At a press conference to announce the Dong Thap Mango Festival in 2023, which took place on the afternoon of April 12, Nguyen Phuoc Thien – Vice Chairman of Dong Thap Provincial People's Committee – said that mangoes are one of the 5 main commodity sectors of the province. Currently, the province has more than 14,000ha of mango cultivation, output is nearly 137,000 tons/year. Therefore, the festival is expected to promote trade, continue to promote Dong Thap mango brand, especially "Cao Lanh mango", "Chu Cao Lanh sand mango" to domestic and foreign markets; create favorable conditions to connect businesses, promote production and business activities, attract the attention of investors in the field of mango processing and export. This is also an opportunity to introduce the image of typical products, Dong Thap culinary culture to visitors; create opportunities to expand cooperation, exchange, attract investors and tourists...

In addition, many exhibitions, seminars, contests, cultural and tourism activities take place before and during the festival.Specifically, before the Festival, there is Dong Thap Mango Week at modern distribution systems; launch a contest "Write a good story about mangoes"; a children's painting contest on lotus leaves, with the theme "My hometown mango season"; a beautiful photo contest about mangoes.

During the festival, prominent activities are organized such as: Mango industry chain exhibition; connecting mango products, OCOP products, Dong Thap specialty products; exchanges between farmers, mango planting guilds with scientists, experts, enterprises producing and trading mango products; organizing farmtrip, connecting tours to mango growing areas, and promoting culture and tourism in Dong Thap province. 

Within the framework of this year's mango festival, there are also delicious mango competitions, delicious mango dishes, shaping and presenting beautiful mango fruit trays; Workshop "Improving the value and sustainable development of mango industry" and launching Dong Thap Mango Industry Association; Workshop "Raising the position of agricultural tourism development in Dong Thap province"...

According to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Dong Thap province, in order to meet the requirements of mango export, Dong Thap province has been proactive in registering the planting area code and expanding the area to achieve VietGAP certification. Up to now, Dong Thap has 296 mango growing areas with an area of more than 8,200 hectares, which are granted planting area codes, serving domestic demand and exporting to markets such as China, Australia, the United States, New Zealand, South Korea, Japan, the European Union, Russia and Singapore.
